Kostroma Oncological Dispensary
The buildings of the community of the Sisters of Mercy of the Red Cross in the name of the Fedorovskaya Mother of God and the hospital under her make up an extraordinary complex of public architecture in the "Russian" style with individual elements of Art Nouveau in the decor. The construction of the community building, founded in Kostroma in 1900, was completed in 1903. The works were gratuitously supervised by the provincial engineer L.A. Trebert, who may have been the author of the project. The building, apparently, was used primarily as an educational institution that trained nurses. The hospital in memory of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov House was founded in 1911 and completed by 1913. designed by architect V.M. Lopatin. During the same period, the courtyard wing of the community building and the passage connecting it with the hospital, as well as the chapel and cellar were built. In the beginning . In the 20th century, the territory was also landscaped: walking paths were laid, acacia bushes were planted, flower beds were laid, a fountain was arranged. Currently, the layout of the paths has been changed, the fountain has been destroyed. An extensive plot occupying several terraces on the slope of a coastal hill (so called. Muravyovka), bounded on the south side (from below) by Nizhnyaya Debra Street, on the north (from above) by Dzerzhinsky Street, on the east by Ovrazhnaya Street. The main buildings are concentrated at the foot of the hill, on a flat terrain. The buildings of the community and the hospital, united by the passage, are placed along the Lower Debra Street, with some deviation from its red line. To the west of the community building, even further from the street, there is a chapel. Behind the hospital, at the foot of the lower terrace, there is a cellar. Approximately on the central axis of the ensemble there is a staircase rising to the middle terrace, where the fountain once stood.
