The residential development Novo Brdo, Unit E1, is part of the wider Brdo area; it has been developing at an accelerated pace in recent years and is the result of the 2016 winning competition entry. The development comprises six multi-dwelling buildings with a total of 174 non-profit rental housing units, which are connected with an underground garage and a standalone pavilion structure for the residents’ joint use. The urban development concept is based on green areas between buildings and subdued construction, which ensures high quality of living and cost-effective implementation. The façades of the buildings are rendered using a combination of the polished fine surface technique in off-white and the spray dashing technique in 3 mm grain size in earthy green. Window surrounds rendered in white bring more light into the interior, while the dark façade optically reduces the buildings and melds them with their surroundings.
