Fifteen x 15 House
This new A rated over basement 4 bedroomed home was designed to emphasize an elevated upper living room space to maximise the 180 degree views. A 15 x 15 metre cube with smooth planar walls was manipulated to reflect the narrow splayed local street topography.

Located on a promontory in Scilly Kinsale access is from the basement to first floor bedrooms and living room which are served by long gentle staircases and lift. Baumit SilikonTop Fine was used to achieve clean sharp edges to enhance the subtracted irrelevant elements were removed to allow for screened views, access to light and refuge for the upper living room. The warm texture of wood was introduced into the recesses of the architectonic form to create a sublime contrast to the prevailing white Baumit exterior. The upper living room level offset from the street below acts as a lightweight lantern to lessen the buildings mass and to give the clients refuge from the passer by. Together all of these functional elements lead to a purity of form which results in a light filled spatial perception of comfort, refuge and tranquillity.
