NYMPHÄUM

This magnificent building, now reawakened, combines the charm of the mid-nineteenth century Gründerzeit era with full modernity, right through from the basement to the attic storey. The park-like inner courtyard, with its atmospheric old trees, forms a green sanctuary in the heart of the city. Roman centurion Titus Lettius Rufus made a dedication to the spring nymphs, who protected the sulphur spring of today's Theresienbad in Vienna, with an altar stone (now on display in the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna). With Nymphengasse 1, situated opposite the oldest medicinal spring in Vienna, this tradition is now being continued.
