Built in the 60s as a workers’ dormitory, the building was unoccupied for the last two decades and its ghastly skeleton was bringing a feeling of abandonment to the area. In 2015 the new owner hired SKICA Studio to renovate the building and bring it to life as a residential tower. The complex renewal operations started in 2016 and included a new structure grid applied to two of the façades, additional elevator, underground parking, new installations and new layout of the residential and ground floors. The newly created apartments feature contemporary and functional layouts and some even got Bauhaus-like balconies. The reinvented and skillfully colored facades caught the attention of photographers and passers by and the building was featured in different urban sites and nominated for Best Architecture Examples award for 2019 by WhATA – an independent platform for architecture critisism.
